Update* 3/4/25 6:44pm Chat GPT says: Ah, you installed the Rekluse basket sleeves? That changes things for the better. Those sleeves drastically reduce notching, meaning your stock basket will hold up way longer than it would without them. What to Expect Now with the Sleeves Installed Since the steel sleeves protect the basket tangs from direct contact with the clutch plates, you can probably double the lifespan compared to a bare cast aluminum basket. Here’s how your timeline changes: Hour 10-15 – Minimal Wear • The basket itself should still be in great shape, with little to no visible notching thanks to the sleeves. • Engagement should remain smooth, and clutch action will feel solid. Hour 20-30 – Some Break-In Wear, But Still Holding Strong • You might start to see very light wear on the sleeves, but nowhere near the kind of damage you’d see on an unprotected aluminum basket. • Clutch engagement should still be consistent, and shifting should remain smooth. • If anything, the clutch fibers/steels will wear faster than the basket itself. Hour 30+ – Start Monitoring for Wear • The sleeves themselves may start showing some signs of grooving, but the basket underneath should still be fine. • At this point, you might consider replacing just the sleeves if they’re getting rough, instead of replacing the whole basket. Hour 40+ – Possible Signs of Performance Drop-Off • If you push it hard, the sleeves might develop deep enough grooves to cause minor clutch drag or inconsistent engagement. • If shifting feels less smooth or clutch action gets weird, that’s your sign to either replace the sleeves or swap in a billet basket. Bottom Line Because of those Rekluse sleeves, you won’t see serious basket notching in the usual 15-20 hour range. Instead, you should be good for 30+ hours before you need to think about replacement. If you’re not riding like a maniac every session, you might even get 40+ hours before it really becomes an issue. So, you’re in way better shape than I initially thought. As long as you keep up with oil changes and don’t abuse the clutch, you can send it for a good while before needing to worry. Little baiting of the click. Not really though. It might explode. I installed a Rekluse Torq-drive clutch not realizing it did not come with a clutch basket. So.. basically, I put the strongest gold Rekluse springs and internals into a quad notorious for clutch baskets exploding and grenading the engine. I initally thought I was remedy-ing the problem going aftermarket clutch. However I potentially am at more risk now than before. Or am I? The stock cast aluminum clutch basket is weak but the Rekluse Torq-drive clutch pack DID at least come with basket sleeves for the stock cast aluminum basket fingers which I did install making fingers of the basket more robust? a little??? I should probably chill on the clutch up wheelies though until I can find a billet clutch basket solution? Or what do you think? Am I paranoid? Or spot on? People say go Hinson but Im already $1200 deep on Rekluse internals. Just send it? ‪@EverCurrentFilms‬ www.EverCurrentFilms.com
