TWO PINTS, ONE OLD STORY — Official Music Video Short Film | Stone & Shamrock
Some stories don't end. They just wait.
"Two Pints, One Old Story" is a song about the people we leave behind — and the people who never really leave us. It's about walking into a room after eighteen years and finding the same smile, the same laugh, the same person you thought you'd lost forever. It's about the conversations you never finished, the words you never said, and the strange magic of a small Irish pub where time moves differently and the whiskey does the talking.
This isn't just a song about regret. It's a song about redemption. About second chances. About the possibility that some love stories aren't meant to disappear — they're just meant to wait.
THE STORY
Our short film follows CIAN and SIOBHAN across one unforgettable night in a small Irish town.
Cian left. Siobhan stayed. Neither of them ever really moved on.
When Cian walks into The Shamrock pub on a rainy evening, he finds Siobhan sitting exactly where she always used to sit — by the window, pint in hand, watching the rain. What follows is a journey through memory, loss, laughter, and the possibility of beginning again.
Through flashbacks, we see them young and reckless — arguing about nothing, dancing by the fire until closing time, believing they had forever. In the present, we see them older, wiser, scarred by the years apart but still carrying that same spark.
The film moves between past and present, between the warm glow of memory and the complicated reality of now. Two pints. One old story. And a question that hangs in the air: Can you come home again?
The journey takes us through:
Rain-soaked Irish streets at dusk
The warm sanctuary of a traditional pub
Flashbacks to a love that burned bright and fast
A candlelit bridge where old wounds finally heal
A dawn that promises something new
STUDIO INSIGHT
When I wrote "Two Pints, One Old Story," I wasn't trying to write a sad song. I was trying to write an honest one.
I think we all have someone we left behind. Not always romantically — sometimes it's a friend, a version of ourselves, a place we called home. We convince ourselves we're fine without them. We tell ourselves we've moved on. And then one day, a song comes on. A smell drifts through a window. A name appears on our phone. And suddenly we're right back there — twenty years old, full of hope, dancing by the fire.
This song is about that moment. The moment you realize that some connections don't break. They just stretch across time and space, waiting for the right moment to snap back.
The "two pints" in the title are symbolic. One is yours. One is theirs. And no matter how many years pass, you always set the table for two. You always pour two drinks. You always leave the light on.
Writing this with the help of AI was an interesting process. I used AI to help refine the structure, but the emotional core — the longing, the nostalgia, the stubborn hope — that's all human. That's lived experience. That's the stuff you can't generate. You have to feel it.
I chose to set this in a pub because pubs are sacred spaces in Ireland. They're where we celebrate, mourn, argue, reconcile, and fall in love. They're where time stops. They're where stories begin and end and begin again.
The fiddle in this song is the heart. The mandolin is the memory. The bodhrán is the heartbeat. And the acoustic guitar is the grounding — the reminder that no matter how far you run, you always come back to where you started.
This one is for anyone who ever left. And for anyone who ever stayed. And for everyone who's ever wondered: What if I went back?
