「盛岡さんさ踊り2026」Morioka Sansa Odori - largest Drum Dance Festival

In the town of Morioka every year the Sansa Odori is being held in the beginning of August. It's the world's largest taiko drum parade with thousands of drummers and even more dancers and flute players. Many of the performance groups are formed by various schools or companies and each group performs their own variations of the Sansa dance. It was such a pleasure to witness this, I was blown away by the sheer will and dedication, performers being soaked by the heavy rain and still dancing with a wide smile.
