Myopic Equilibria, Spanning, and Evolutionary Game Theory
Spanning is a topological property related to continuity and applicable to correspondences. When the payoff structure of a game has the spanning property then the game has a myopic equilibrium. A myopic equilibrium has the property that every action used with positive probability delivers for its player the maximal payoff of all the available actions. It includes the concept of an equilibrium of population densities in evolutionary game theory. In the context of evolutionary game theory, the spanning property delivers equilibria when the usual conditions for a Nash equilibrium fail.
