SA INC - Season 6 - Atlantis SEZ (6 mins)

The Atlantis Special Economic Zone represents a strategic reimagining of how industrial development can drive inclusive growth in South Africa. Positioned as a hub for green technology and advanced manufacturing, the zone is designed to attract both local and international investment while ensuring that economic benefits are shared with the surrounding community. At its core, ASEZ is not simply an industrial site — it is an ecosystem. By bringing together investors, entrepreneurs, educators and local stakeholders, the zone creates an environment where industry development and community empowerment are interconnected. This integrated approach ensures that growth is both sustainable and inclusive. A key component of this model is the deliberate inclusion of small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs). Through targeted procurement strategies, a significant portion of project value is allocated to local businesses. These enterprises are supported through mentorship, skills development and access to opportunities, enabling them to participate meaningfully in the industrial value chain and grow beyond initial contracts. Equally important is the focus on future skills. Programmes such as the Solar Green Academy provide young people with practical training in renewable energy technologies, while STEM initiatives introduce learners to emerging industries from an early age. These interventions bridge the gap between education and employment, equipping participants with skills that are directly relevant to the jobs of the future. Community engagement is central to ASEZ’s success. By involving local stakeholders in the development process, the zone builds trust and ensures that initiatives are aligned with community needs and aspirations. This sense of shared ownership strengthens both the social and economic impact of the project. Over time, ASEZ is evolving into more than a site of production — it is becoming a catalyst for regional transformation. By combining infrastructure development with skills training, enterprise support and community participation, the zone is creating a blueprint for how industrialisation can drive inclusive, long-term growth. ‪@AtlantisSpecialEconomicZone‬ ====================================================== Subscribe to our YouTube Channel:    / @regencyfn   RegencyFN films positive, authentic, inspirational and change-making ‘human-centred’ stories featuring the collaborative work of businesses, governments, NGOs, media influencers, labour & civil society.
