The gist of the composition— Oh Parvati, the daughter of Himavan, save me always. Grant me thy grace. The mother of Lord Kumara, lotus eyed, the consort of Lord Shiva, and the one who showers wellbeing. The one with a heart as soft as butter, the goddess of the entire Universe, Narayani (an epithet for Parvati), the compassionate one with a gentle smile, who wards of sins, and for whom the blessed music of muraLI is sweet like honey. Some things to note— After a minute plus AlApana of the rAgam, featuring the key aspects of the rAgam, there is a short follow through on the violin. The rendition of the composition comes next. Following the anupallavi, is a brisk svara vinyAsam. After the charaNam, there is yet another short and sweet svara vinyAsam. The form of the rAgam is highlighted by the selective repetition of the phrases to portray their nuances. The name of the rAgam is employed in the composition for an attribute of the goddess. The enunciation of the lyrics, adds to the delight of listening to the rendition, once again. Turn on the video and savour navanItam. Acknowledgements: I wish to acknowledge the help rendered by Sri.
