Vasoorimala Vellattam - വസൂരിമാല വെള്ളാട്ടം

Before Vasoorimala Theyyam appears in full splendor, a lighter preliminary form appears with minimal costume. Through this ritual, the performer takes the first step from human toward the goddess who both afflicts and heals. Vellattam serves as a spiritual rehearsal and an introductory ritual where the artist (Koladhari) begins the transition from a mortal human into the divine persona of the deity. വസൂരിമാല തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ ചെറിയ രൂപമാണ്‌ വസൂരിമാല വെള്ളാട്ടം. തന്റെ പൂർണ്ണ പ്രഭയോടെ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നതിന് മുൻപ്, വെള്ളാട്ടമായി വസൂരിമാല അരങ്ങിലെത്തുന്നു. വെള്ളാട്ടം ഒരു ആത്മീയ പരിശീലനമായും ഒരു ആമുഖ ചടങ്ങായും വർത്തിക്കുന്നു, അവിടെ കലാകാരൻ നശ്വരനായ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനിൽ നിന്ന് ദേവതയുടെ ദിവ്യ വ്യക്തിത്വത്തിലേക്കുള്ള പരിവർത്തനം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു.
