The OVERRATED Soul Singers Everyone Pretends To Love

Whitney Houston. Mariah Carey. Marvin Gaye. Michael Jackson. Aretha Franklin. Diana Ross. Ray Charles. Luther Vandross. Otis Redding. Sam Cooke. Every one of them is a legend. And every one of them may be remembered for the myth, not the man or woman behind the music. In this documentary-style countdown, we dig into the stories the greatest hits playlists leave out: the rejected songs, the industry betrayals, the heartbreak behind the harmony, and the hidden truths about the records you think you know by heart. Is this list fair? Probably not. That is the point. Who did we get wrong? Tell us in the comments. Defend your legend. We read every one. If you believe forgotten stories deserve to be told, subscribe to R&B Wonders and join the people who refuse to let this music be remembered only by its shine. New stories on classic R&B and soul music history, every week. #RnBWonders #SoulMusic #RnBHistory #WhitneyHouston #MarvinGaye #SamCooke #ArethaFranklin #OtisRedding #MusicDocumentary #classicsoul
