LAST WEEK IN DEV FARM October 21st - October 31st 2026

In the last week or so we have planted two of the raised beds in the polytunnel, one with broccoli and one with lettuce, as well as finishing off one compost heap and getting the area ready to make another one. For this we will need several deliveries of leaves which we hope won’t take long with the temperature going down and the leaves changing colour before they drop for the winter. As it gets colder the polytunnel is getting colder at night so we have installed some passive heating in the form of two barrels of water. They heat up during the day and then radiate the heat out to the plants at night. We hope it will be enough to keep our plants growing well which they are at the moment. We’ve marked out where the new Seed Garden is going to be and once again we have to remove nettles and dig the soil before we can get started.
