He also wrote commentaries for several publications of Gorakhpur’s Gita Press and was an accomplished practitioner and teacher of Sri Shakta Upasana, guiding many aspirants on the spiritual path. He was initiated to Srividya sadhana by Sri Thethiyur Sastrigal. He in turn had initiated our Gurunathar Sri Nerur Sastha Srividya Shankara Saraswathi Swamigal in the same path. Belonging to a family blessed by the grace of five successive Jagadgurus of Sringeri, from Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamigal to the present Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamigal, he represented a remarkable lineage of traditional scholarship and spiritual learning. Sri Sastrigal shed his mortal coils in Bangalore at the age of 91 in October 2026, leaving behind a rich legacy of scriptural wisdom, devotion, and service to the spiritual tradition.
