We’re renovating our old Swedish root cellar (jordkällare) here at Lilla Backeberga — and this is only **Part 1**. 🌿🧱 This old cellar will eventually become a beautiful and functional storage space for our farm life — for **potatoes, carrots, vegetables, wine and other things we want to store throughout the year**. But before we can use it properly, there’s quite a bit of renovation to do. In this first part, we’re working on the **stone walls, the entrance and the doors**. I had already renovated the front earlier in the year, but then realized that I hadn’t built the stonework exactly the way I wanted it. 😅 So now I’m going back and fixing it — grinding and brushing the stones to create larger, more natural-looking gaps and give the cellar a more traditional, old Swedish root cellar feel. I try several different brushes and techniques, including wetting the stones before brushing them, and show you what worked best for me. Meanwhile, Oskar is working on the **new insulated doors**, using sheep’s wool insulation and building the frames for the two-door entrance. And this is just the beginning. 🤍 In the upcoming parts, we’ll continue renovating the **inside of the root cellar**, making it not only practical for storing vegetables and wine, but also a beautiful space that fits our old Swedish farmhouse. We’re doing everything ourselves, learning as we go — and sometimes realizing that we should have done things differently the first time. 😅 Come along for the whole transformation from an old Swedish *jordkällare* to our finished farmhouse storage cellar. 🍷🥕🥔 Chapters 00:00 Swedish Root Cellar Renovation – Part 1 01:00 A look back at the renovation 01:23 The old stone walls 01:55 Oskar starts insulating the door 02:33 Grinding the stone walls 02:53 First progress update 03:57 Checking the progress 04:20 Trying a different brush 04:43 The plastic brush 05:04 Brushing the stones 05:12 Does wetting the stones help? 06:31 The area underneath the door 06:58 Mixing the concrete 07:33 Building around the door 08:54 Finished! 09:29 The new door 09:48 What is Oskar doing? 👀 09:54 Building the door 10:46 Insulating the door 11:14 Building the second door frame 11:57 Insulating the second door 13:15 Making door handles from old branches 13:45 Root Cellar Renovation – Part 1 14:21 More dahlia projects 14:44 Scandinavian blueberries 🛍️ THINGS I USE & LOVE *Garden & Pruning* Garden Scissors https://amzn.to/4wE2aHR Hedge Shears https://amzn.to/4gj0pej Bonsai Scissors https://amzn.to/4xVEAYj Bouquet Scissors https://amzn.to/4hJPThp Flower & Bouquet Decoration https://amzn.to/45M7nT5 *DIY & Renovation* Masonry Trowel https://amzn.to/4gJjPYM 5-Piece Masonry Trowel Set https://amzn.to/4zQ4Wwt Screwdriver Drill Bit Set https://amzn.to/3Vdh4HW Concrete Mixer https://amzn.to/3Vdh4HW Concrete Bucket https://amzn.to/4xCzH6B Cordless Drill https://amzn.to/461UAft Work Gloves https://amzn.to/4gWLcPo *Filming Gear* Gimbal https://amzn.to/4yoplra 🌿 MORE FROM US Instagram   / __laaeri   🎙️ PLATSALAT PODCAST https://open.spotify.com/episode/556M...
