PRESERVE - The bio-based packaging revolution

Plastic waste from food packaging is one of today’s biggest environmental challenges, with only a fraction of it being recycled. The PRESERVE project is on a mission to change this by creating sustainable food packaging solutions made from up to 85% bio-based materials. Our goal? Reduce fossil-based plastics and create packaging that can be recycled, upcycled, or even composted. In this video, we’ll take you inside PRESERVE’s journey, where innovative researchers are developing new bio-based coatings and barrier solutions specifically for food packaging. PRESERVE is testing and scaling up solutions that can transform packaging into reusable, versatile products like cosmetic containers and non-woven textiles. Every step is measured against Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to ensure maximum impact in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Together, we can move toward a world where everything deserves a better chance.
