Children’s social work workforce - the new national professional development offer

From April 2027 the Early Career Standards will replace the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) for children and families’ social workers and aims to deliver a two-year programme to develop professional confidence and competence. After the initial two years, the framework will also provide a further optional three-year progression route to become an “expert practitioner”.
