28 Hours in Amtrak First Class Sleeper | Miami to NYC

Join us for a full 28-hour journey on Amtrak's Silver Meteor from Miami to New York City, riding in a First Class Sleeper cabin for two. Our trip begins at Miami Amtrak Station at 8:15 AM, where we board the train and walk through the sleeper cars to explore the layout before departure. Soon after, we enjoy our first onboard breakfast—a freshly made omelet, while watching the tropical Florida scenery pass by. As the train moves north through Florida, we capture the landscape from the window and explore the comfort of our newer sleeper car, located at the very rear of the train. On our way back from breakfast, we pass through an older sleeper car where we notice something surprising: the toilet is located inside the room, exposed and awkwardly placed. That contrast made us even more grateful for our room, which had no in-room toilet and felt much more comfortable and private. Before lunch, we continue filming the passing views and then enjoy a burger meal at 1 PM, once again with beautiful scenery outside. Around 6 PM, we have steak for dinner while the sun begins to set—capturing gorgeous golden hour lighting over rivers and small towns along the way. The dining experience paired with the sunset view was a highlight of the trip. As night falls, we return to our room, pull down the upper bunk, and go to sleep while the train gently rocks through the southeastern U.S. The next morning, we wake up just before sunrise and enjoy another omelet breakfast at 6:30 AM, this time with an amazing sunrise over a river, which we captured on video. The final leg of the journey takes us past Washington, D.C., through Philadelphia, New Jersey, and finally into New York City.
