In today's Free4All Adventure we explore the Famous Abandoned Montgomery Mall in Montgomery, Alabama! This place has been abandoned since 2008 and is still frozen in time. Join us as we venture into this amazing abandoned mall full of history! The Montgomery Mall in Montgomery opened in 1970 as a major enclosed shopping center anchored by stores like Montgomery Fair and JCPenney, later expanding in 1987–88 with a new wing and additional retailers that made it a thriving regional hub through the late 20th century. However, by the early 2000s, the mall began to decline as national retail trends shifted, competition from newer developments increased, and key anchor stores closed or relocated, leading to widespread vacancies. After years of dwindling foot traffic and unsuccessful revitalization efforts, the mall officially shut down in 2008, leaving behind a largely abandoned structure that has since become a symbol of the rise and fall of traditional American malls, with parts of the site later repurposed for community and institutional use.
