#tubaba #2baba #2face 2Baba is one of the few singers that can walk into the Nigerian music hall of fame without any opposing argument. For over 20 years, he has lit up the music industry and has an impressive catalog of classic songs. However, how much do you know about the soulful singer who can match almost all music genres? Learn all the most important facts about him in this video. Number 10. The first 2Baba fact is basic and well known by his millions of fans across the globe; it is that his real name is Innocent Ujah Idibia. Although he is an indigene of the Idoma ethnic group in Benue State, he was actually born in Jos, Plateau State on 18th September 1975. Number 9. This is where things get interesting. Did you know that the legendary singer did not graduate from the higher institution? 2Baba was studying for a National Diploma certificate in business administration and management at the Institute of Management & Technology (IMT), in Enugu State, but dropped out to pursue music. This was around 1996 when he was already gaining some popularity by performing at shows and events that took place at his school and other institutions in Enugu State. Additionally, he was composing and singing jingles for GB Fan Club at Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) around the same time. Number 8. In 1996, 2Face (as Innocent Idibia was previously known) and Blackface formed the now-defunct Plantashun Boiz. The duo had reconnected at IMT in Enugu State after they had attended the same secondary school in Benue State. Later they moved to Lagos and met Chibuzor Oji, who used to go by the stage name Lyrical Orge. However, to give the group a unifying appearance, Oji changed his name to Faze when he joined Plantashun Boiz boys’ band. Number 7. 2Face released “African Queen” in 2004 as the lead single of “Face 2 Face”, his debut album as a solo artist under Kennis Music. The single won Song of the Year Award at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards and A.M.E.N Awards in 2004. It was also used in the soundtrack for the 2006 American romantic comedy film “Phat Girlz”. Number 6. On leaving Kennis Music, in 2006, 2Face founded his own record label that he called Hypertek Digital. He has signed three other artists under his record label since inception, namely: Victor Uwaifo, Dammy Krane, and RockSteady. Number 5. 2Face dropped his third studio album and first under Hypertek Digital in 2008. The album titled “The Unstoppable” is an 18-track project that did not do quite well. Despite the negative reviews or maybe buoyed by them, 2Face released “The Unstoppable International Edition” as his fourth studio album in 2010. Number 4. 2Face is arguably one of the first modern Nigerian singers that took the country’s music to international heights. His sixth studio album, “The Ascension” debuted at number 12 on the Billboard World Albums chart, making him the first Nigerian artist to achieve this feat. He also released a remix of “Rainbow” with American superstar T-Pain in 2013. Number 3. In 2016, 2Face Idibia officially changed his stage name to 2Baba. The new name - 2Baba - started appearing as his credit on songs while 2Face was left out. Initially, it looked like the new nickname was in recognition of his longevity in the Nigerian music industry. However, that is not correct. Number 2. Besides winning some of the biggest awards in the music industry including The Headies, MOBO, MTV, BET, Channel O, and so on. 2Baba has also been decorated for his advocacy. For example, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control appointed him as an ambassador in 2009. Number 1. On 2nd May 2012, Innocent Ujah Idibia and Annie Macaulay (now Annie Idibia) tied the knot in a private marriage ceremony in Lagos State. Annie herself is a Nigerian award-winning actress, movie producer, model, and serial entrepreneur. She and 2Baba had been in an on-and-off-again sort of relationship for many years before their eventual marriage. They held a bigger ceremony a year later on 23rd March 2013 in Dubai, UAE. 2Baba and Annie share two daughters named Olivia and Isabella Idibia. . . .
