£6 million investment in our schools

While pupils were enjoying the summer holidays, we were working hard behind the scenes to improve school buildings and facilities across Bridgend County Borough. Over the six-week break, more than 40 improvement schemes have taken place across around 25 schools, making the most of the time when schools were quieter to carry out essential works with minimal disruption to pupils and staff. The projects range from roof upgrades, electrical and mechanical works and fire prevention improvements to classroom and science laboratory refurbishments, toilet enhancements and decarbonisation projects. We visited some of the schools where work has been taking place, including Pencoed Comprehensive School, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Llangynwyd, Nantyffyllon Primary School, West Park Primary School and Porthcawl Comprehensive School, to see the improvements for ourselves. With pupils now back in the classroom, our £6 million capital programme is helping to ensure that schools are safe, well-maintained and provide modern environments where pupils can learn, grow and thrive.
