Redwood Roundtable with Harry Bhagwandin - October 2026

Harry Omroa Bhagwandin — tree farmer and manager of Shady Grove Orchards, a 75-acre family-owned tree farm in Onalaska, WA — works with PropagationNation to promote coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) as a promising component of commercial timber species mixes for the Pacific Northwest. His work emphasizes the potential of coast redwood's rapid growth, disease resistance, carbon sequestration capacity, and adaptability to changing environmental conditions. At this roundtable, Harry shared the science behind why PropagationNation advocates for assisted migration, including forecasts about viability of different native species as the climate changes in the next several decades. During Q&A, Harry fielded questions about the presentation, and he and others shared planting advice for attendees with questions about planting redwoods and sequoias on their own properties. The group crowdsourced, and a lot of good information was shared.
