What if your worst failure isn’t the end of your story?
Peter promised he would never deny Jesus. But when the pressure hit, fear took over, and Peter denied knowing Jesus three times. He failed publicly—and he knew it. But Jesus didn’t walk away from Peter. After the resurrection, Jesus met him at another charcoal fire and gave him a path toward restoration.
In this message, we explore:
Why even our strongest promises can collapse when we rely on ourselves
How Peter’s worst failure didn’t disqualify him from being loved or used by Jesus
Why Jesus responds to Peter with restoration instead of condemnation
What it looks like to bring our failures and wounds into the light instead of hiding them
How God’s grace gives us the freedom to stop living in fear of what others think
Why we are restored by Jesus so we can care for and restore others
Big Idea: Your worst failure isn't the end of your story. God’s grace restores you so you can follow Jesus and care for His people.
Jesus knew exactly what Peter had done. He didn’t ask Peter to pretend it never happened. He met him in the place of his failure, asked, “Do you love me?”, and called him forward again.
Our comfort isn’t found in being perfect. Our comfort is in God’s amazing grace.
Scripture: John 18:15–18, 25–27; John 21:9–19
Challenge: Step into the light. What do you need God to restore? Instead of hiding it, isolating yourself, or letting your failure define you, bring it to Jesus and ask Him to meet you there.
If you follow Jesus, remember: He didn’t save you at your worst only to become disappointed in you later. His grace is still enough today. And as He restores you, He invites you to help care for His people too.
