The 2013 Pirates Replay Master Plan | Strat-O-Matic House Rules & Dugout Realism

Welcome back to the dugout! In this episode of The Other Side of Simulations (TOSS), I’m laying down the complete master plan for our flagship project: a full 162-game tabletop replay of the 2013 Pittsburgh Pirates! Why the 2013 Pirates? With Andrew McCutchen, Neil Walker, Pedro Alvarez, and A.J. Burnett, this squad won 94 games and brought postseason baseball back to Bucco Nation. But we aren't settling for a Wild Card spot—our goal is 95+ wins and the NL Central Division Crown! In this video, I address my deep respect for Strat-O-Matic as a 60-year tabletop masterpiece, explain why bringing 30 years of dugout coaching experience into the game isn't about "fixing" SOM, and walk you through every house rule in the TOSS engine. 🔥 JOIN THE TOSS COMMUNITY DISCORD: Connect with fellow tabletop managers, share dice stories, discuss house rules, and help make strategic calls during our live stream watch parties! 👉 Discord Invite:   / discord   ⚾ ABOUT THE OTHER SIDE OF SIMULATIONS (TOSS): Hosted by a 30-year veteran baseball coach, TOSS brings authentic dugout psychology, tactical management, and dice-rolling realism to classic tabletop baseball simulations. Welcome to TOSS: Tabletop Outcome Sports Simulations—where we manage the game, not just the math. I’m a coach with 30 years of real-world experience in the trenches. I’ve spent decades making split-second decisions under stadium lights, aligning defenses, pulling pitchers, and playing situational small-ball. Now, I’m bringing that exact real-world dugout playbook to the tabletop. On this channel, we look at sports simulations through a true coach’s eye. Our flagship series is the 162-Game Replay of the 2013 Pittsburgh Pirates ("Reclaiming October") in Strat-O-Matic Baseball—combining full Super Advanced rules with an innovative 5-Card Dynamic Modification Engine. What makes TOSS different? The Coach's Playbook: We don't just roll dice and read card percentages. We explain the why behind every hit-and-run, defensive shift, pitching hook, and high-pressure decision. Super Advanced Depth & House Rules: We play full Super Advanced Strat-O-Matic supplemented by custom d100 "Human Element" house rules—modeling pitcher composure, frustration, dynamic stamina, and psychological momentum on the tabletop. The Hybrid Broadcast Setup: Physical dice and player cards on camera, backed directly by the Strat-O-Matic PC game as our digital broadcast overlay and back-office league tracker. Live Replay Sessions: We go live a few times a week during the 2013 Pirates replay, bringing you directly into the dugout for real-time strategy, chat Q&As, and high-stakes games. Whether you are a die-hard Strat-O-Matic veteran, a baseball purist, or a fellow sports simulation fan, there is a seat for you in our dugout. Grab your scorecard, trust your gut, and let's TOSS some dice. #StratOMatic #TabletopBaseball #PittsburghPirates #BaseballSimulation
