Danny Elfman live at The Masonic in San Francisco, Saturday, October 3, 2026, on the Fall Tour 2026. Filmed at 1111 California Street on Nob Hill, one of the city's best rooms for a show with this much going on. Elfman is one of the few people who can fill a theater on the strength of film scores alone. He started out in Southern California in the 1970s with the theatrical troupe The Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo, which turned into the new wave band Oingo Boingo. The band's songs, including "Weird Science" and "Dead Man's Party," are still a big part of his reputation. In the mid-1980s he scored Tim Burton's first feature film, and the partnership became one of the best known in movies: Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas and many more. Along the way he wrote the theme to The Simpsons, which may be the most-played piece of music he has made. He is also a multiple Oscar nominee and an Emmy winner. In recent years he has returned to rock with solo albums, so the live show can move from orchestral film music to loud guitars without pausing. And he sings Jack Skellington, which for a lot of the crowd is the point. Doors, lights, a packed house, and a very good-natured Halloween-adjacent crowd on the first weekend of October.
