In 1930, an animation critic arranged with Walt Disney to review a Mickey Mouse episode that was scheduled to be broadcast the following day. When the day arrived, he received a letter along with the episode. The letter explained that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the critic would not be able to visit the studio that day. However, he could watch the episode he had received and determine whether it was suitable for broadcast.
The episode was titled "The Sad Walk of the Mouse."
The episode began with Mickey Mouse wearing a sad expression as he walked down the street, accompanied by a distorted piano playing in the background. A few minutes later, the piano music suddenly stopped, replaced by static. Shortly afterward, the power went out, leaving the critic in darkness for quite some time.
Six minutes later, the power returned, and the episode resumed. However, Mickey was now happy, no longer wearing his previous sad expression.
A few minutes later, screams began to emerge from the silence. Mickey's face became distorted, along with the background, and the episode began to suffer from interference whenever Mickey turned to face the screen.
After that, Mickey started running through the city without stopping. Eventually, he tripped over a rock on the ground and fell. The screams abruptly stopped, and the background faded away as flames began to appear on the screen.
Then, the episode ended.
Two months after watching the episode, the critic disappeared without a trace. The episode was subsequently classified as lost, as there was no way to determine whether it had ever been approved for broadcast.
