If you do hammer them on the shifter there is a risk of breaking or not being able to remove them again. * Just for clarification Also the Extension portion on the side for 6speed is no longer produced. After feedback of users they say the side to side is too short and it is not needed for actually getting into reverse. When i made this video I did not have a 6speed to test this on, so I wanted to make sure there was enough travel. Since this video and numberous shifters were produced it was deemed un necessary.
