Remove the cameraman from a mirror or window reflection using Gaussian Splatting, ComfyUI, and Nuke. In this step-by-step VFX test, I show a workflow for removing the camera operator from a mirror shot by generating an AI alpha matte, replacing the reflection with a 3D Gaussian splat environment, tracking the camera, calibrating color, and compositing the result back into the original footage. This video is about mirror reflection VFX, camera reflection removal, clean plate replacement, and AI-assisted rotoscoping. The workflow was explored for an upcoming Hong Kong film with mirror shots where the camera and cameraman are visible in the reflection. This is a proof-of-concept test, not a final production shot, but the pipeline is designed to be production-ready, and I will share a more polished real-production version if the team approves. In this workflow, you will learn: How to use ComfyUI / LTX 2.5 Alpha Gen to create a fast AI mask/alpha Why replacing the cameraman with green can help AI masking in reflection shots How to prepare RED Komodo footage as ACES EXR from DaVinci Resolve into Nuke How to rough-roto a mirror and inject an AI-generated alpha into the plate How to camera track the shot and use a Gaussian splat as a 3D back plate How to capture a mirror environment with XGRID PortalCam and process it with LCC How to edit and clean up Gaussian splats in SuperSplat How to mirror a Gaussian splat in Nuke using GeoTransform and a -1 scale How to calibrate colors with a color chart, ColorMatrix, and ACES How to trim the splat with field masks and GeoDeletePoint node for easier alignment/rendering How to match blown-out window highlights using GeoGrade node How to use SplatRender depth for true depth of field and deep compositing How to fix transparent edges with edge extension and edge blending How to composite the splat back plate into the original shot with color match, light wrap, and final cleanup This workflow is useful for VFX artists, compositors, filmmakers, and AI artists working on mirror shots, window reflections, camera operator removal, reflections with parallax, clean plates, deep compositing, and 3D Gaussian Splatting in Nuke. If you want to remove a camera reflection, a cameraman in a mirror, a window reflection, or a camera operator visible behind a character, this video shows how Gaussian Splatting can give the reflection real 3D parallax instead of relying only on a 2D plate.
