KOMOREBI (木漏れ日) is a Japanese word with no single English translation. It means the sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees — the soft, scattered patches of light that fall on the forest floor, and move whenever the wind moves the branches.
This piece was inspired by a quiet forest at morning: slender cedars rising in soft layers, thin mist glowing in the slanting light, and at the end of a few mossy stone steps, a small vermilion torii waiting among the trees. The light doesn't pour down here. It arrives in pieces, through the gaps, a little at a time. And somehow that makes each piece feel like a small gift.
Not every day is bright. Some days the light only reaches us through the gaps — a kind word, a warm cup of tea, a quiet minute with nothing asked of us. The Japanese language has a name for it, and it treats those gaps as something beautiful. Let this be one of your small patches of light today.
3 hours, perfect for a calm morning, quiet focus, and the gentle moments in between.
