Even if you’ve never celebrated Halloween, you’ll recognise the pumpkins, scary costumes and children going door to door for sweets. But how did these traditions travel around the world, and what’s changed along the way? Join Nishma, Neil and Shereen as they compare their experiences of Halloween, from childhood in Scotland to celebrations in Egypt today. Some people love any excuse to dress up and have fun, but there’s a religious and cultural history too. So what is it about Halloween that gets people joining in, even when they haven’t grown up with those traditions? Maybe there’s something about being scared that we just can’t resist! We’d love to hear what it’s like where you are! Is Halloween popular in your country? Do you join in? Tell us in the comments.
