It is equipped with a 4 cylinder 1.6L HDI. It is a diesel engine developed by PSA (Peugeot-Citroën group) offered on almost all ranges of the two brands and with different displacement and power levels. With such an engine, the car is very torquey at low revs. The acceleration is rather straightforward, without having to rev up too much. The Citroën DS3 HDI is at ease on the road outside town and on the motorway.
