In this episode I team up with my friend Eric, from “The Lonely Overlander”, building a custom load floor for his 2021 two door, Ford Bronco. I will introduce you to Eric, talk about his 2021 Ford Bronco and find out what he is up to on his YouTube channel. Eric’s Bronco is a 6th generation Bronco and ushers in the return of moniker to the off-road community. Long awaited, the Bronco is a direct answer to JEEP’s long running and segment dominating Wrangler. Eric’s Bronco is the top of the line “Bad Lands” edition and is further enhanced with the “Sasquatch” option package which provides 17-inch beadlock-compatible wheels, 35-inch mud tires, an electromechanical transfer case, locking front and rear axles, larger fender flares, additional suspension clearance, and heavy-duty Bilstein shocks. One of Eric’s build goals is to remove the rear seats from the Bronco, (INSERT VIDEO LINK) and replace them with a custom load floor with a slider tray to make room for his dog as well as store all the supplies for the back woods off grid camping that the truck is being built for. Aftermarket load floor options are available for the Bronco but cost, supply issues and just the fun of building one himself led him to the Tinker Shed for some wood working help. The unit itself is build using a sheet of ½ inch plywood, some left over ¾ inch plywood scraps, some industrial carpet, and some heavy-duty self-locking drawer slides. The build required 3 weekends to complete, and this first episode covers up to where we get the basic load floor laid out and completed.
