What did an ordinary day in the Viking Age actually look like when there was no single “Viking routine”? This video follows the work that kept households, farms, workshops, towns, and ships functioning—from tending fire, carrying water, feeding animals, processing grain, preserving food, and making textiles to repairing tools and managing seasonal demands.
Using archaeological evidence from Scandinavian farms, Coppergate in Viking Age York, and reconstructed ship research, we also look at how daily life changed with place, skill, wealth, status, and age. The result is a Viking world shaped less by constant battle than by repeated practical work, shared spaces, craft, travel, play, and preparation for tomorrow.
