Joseph Jongen was a Belgian composer who taught at the Brussels Conservatory, and studied organ at the Liege Conservatory. Most of Jongen's early music was influenced by Franck, most notably the Trois Pieces Pour Harmonium (Three Pieces for Harmonium), which can be played on organ. This collection dates from 1908. The first movement in this collection is the Priere du Matin (Morning Prayer). This particular movement makes use of the Swell pedal for crescendo and decrescendo effects. The melody is stated throughout the work with a couple of key changes. I use a combination of flute and string stops on the Fabry organ at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, Milwaukee.
