Shopping in Marrakech can be a fantasy or a nightmare depending on how you explore and bargain. If browsing the markets and haggling for prices awakens the treasure hunter in you, then you can spend hours in the souk exploring and finding specialty storerooms and boutiques.
Today we shop in the souk or medina with its stalls of local producers as well as some more traditional boutiques.
The interesting thing is that it does not write the price on any of its products. When asked about the price, every seller says a price in his head. Especially some manufacturers want the same price for each product. What you buy is 10 dirhams, for example.
Our friends recommended it before coming here. So that you do not buy without bargaining. But he didn't say what the price difference might be.
We made our first shopping at a stall selling Arab Shirts with an exhibition on the ground in the middle of the square. A local husband and wife who had come before us were looking at Shirts. At that moment, we heard the price that was told to them. He wanted 50 Dirhams for each Apron. When we asked, the seller said 100 dirhams/piece. When we said that the previous customer only paid 50 Dirhams, he agreed and we bought two.
In our next purchase, you reduced the price by 1/6.
We paid 100 dirhams for a product worth 600 dirhams. We paid 110 dirhams for a product worth 300 dirhams.
In short, we learned that every manufacturer gives excessive prices.
If you go to Marrakeche, my advice to you is to give at least 1/3 the price. Believe me, you will get it for the price you pay. When bargaining, give 1/3 the price and don't change it. Even if you really want to buy the product, try to quit and go if necessary. He will definitely come after you. and you will get finances at the price you want. Our experience has shown this. The asking price is very high and they want these fixatlari on purpose. That there may be a 10-15% discount for a newly arrived tourist. And because they know this, they knowingly want 5-6 times the price. Of course, this means 300-400% discount.
We tried. Try it yourself, you will be profitable.
