Flat Bar Gravel Bike Conversion - Trek Checkpoint ALR - Pt.1

Is a flat bar gravel road bike just industry jargon for a rebranded vintage mountain bike from the 90’s?.. Today we’re going to investigate. After converting my vintage Specialized Hardrock to drop bars, I was left a set of Crust Loose flat bars and Paul Canti brake levers that I wanted to repurpose. For months I had been toying with the idea of converting the Trek Checkpoint ALR to flat bars to make it even more off-road capable, and this was the perfect bar and brake lever combo for the job.
