Tucked away in the beautiful Sussex countryside, St Peter’s Church in East Marden is a remarkable medieval church with around 800 years of history. Join me as I explore this quiet and atmospheric Sussex church, beginning inside with its ancient medieval font, old organ, Millennium tapestry and historic memorials before heading outside into the peaceful churchyard. I also take a look at the fascinating old village well opposite the church — once an important source of water for the people of East Marden. St Peter’s dates back to the medieval period, with parts of the church dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. Although the interior has been altered over the centuries, the building still gives us a wonderful glimpse into the long history of this small Sussex village.
