1990 KONE (rb. 2003 KONE) MRL traction elevator @ Espen shopping center, Vaasa, Finland

Merry Christmas 2024! Filmed on 4.12.2024. This elevator is located at Espen shopping center. This elevator is shopping elevator. Basement (K) has parking garage on east side of the elevator and service facilities on west side of the elevator. Nowadays elevator serves two levels of 1st floor which is confusing. Lower 1st floor has exit to Hovioikeudenpuistikko. Floors 1 to 2 have shopping area. Upper 1st floor has access to escalator down to Vaasan ToriParkki parking garage and access to stairs up to exit to Alatori. 2nd floor has access to Hovioikeudenpuistikko 16 with access to elevator and stairs up to Royal 1 building of Original Sokos Hotel Royal. This elevator was originally made by in 1990 and later rebuilt in 2003 by KONE. The elevator was traction with machine room before the rebuilding but now it was changed to MRL traction. Also the technical closet of MRL elevator was installed on 2nd floor. Display screen was installed in the elevator later in 2018. The display screen shows stores, restaurants and other services in the shopping center. Upper 1st floor and 2nd floor were numbered as 2 and 3 before the modernization of the shopping center in 2018. 3rd floor (nowadays 2nd floor) had Anttila Vaasa department store until 2016. Basement (K) and 2nd floor (nowadays upper 1st floor) were locked off from (lower) 1st floor and floors (lower) 1 and 3 (nowadays 2nd floor) were locked off from 2nd floor before the modernization of the shopping center but now all floors are open anywhere. That’s because the elevator was meant for access only to Anttila Vaasa department store from (lower) 1st floor and access only to parking garage from 2nd floor (nowadays upper 1st floor) before the modernization of the shopping center. The elevator has split leveling between lower and upper 1st floor. The elevator has no data about original installation year. Normal advertisements have been added on outer left doors on basement (K) on east side of the elevator and floors 1 to 2 and guides down to parking garage have been added on outer right doors on lower and upper 1st floor. Outer right door on lower 1st floor had also opening ours during winter season (Independance Day of Finland (6.12.), Christmas (24.-25.12.), Boxing Day (26.12.) and New Year (31.12.-1.1.)) when I visited there. Espen shopping center was opened in 2018 and this is modernization of former HS Center shopping center.
