Tregeseal was a dance originally conceived by Debbie Fenwick around 2010. At the time she danced with Beltane. She's subsequently taken the dance to Isambard's Gasket Rats who now perform it with 6 dancers. Beltane have kept the dance for 8 but 3-4 years ago altered the fourth figure. The dance goes: chorus, 'Circles', chorus, 'Starey Hey', chorus, 'Hand Circles', chorus, 'Back to Back with a difference', final chorus/all in. The original final figure '3 Sausages' was changed in about 2013 as it didn't really work. The dance is based on an old tale about the wild young maidens of St Just in West Cornwall who loved dancing up on the hill behind the town. But they weren't allowed to dance on the Sabbath for if they were caught, they'd risk being turned to stone. Sadly they were caught and became what is now Tregeseal East stone circle.
