The Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 235 issued an arrest warrant against Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste with a recommended bail set at ₱72,000. The warrant stems from a Department of Energy (DOE) complaint filed against Leviste and officials of his company, Solar Para Sa Bayan Corp. (SPSBC). They were charged with violating Section 25 of the Public Service Act (Commonwealth Act No. 146). Prosecutors found prima facie evidence that the corporation failed and willfully neglected to fulfill its obligations under its 2019 legislative franchise—specifically, failing to construct facilities and supply electricity to remote, unserved, or underserved areas. Current Status: Leviste is currently abroad (last reported in France with his mother, Sen. Loren Legarda). Because Philippine law requires an accused individual to physically surrender to court jurisdiction before posting bail, he cannot post bail through a proxy or representative while remaining out of the country.
