REMIX - Gladys Knight & The Pips - Neither One Of Us 2023 (Produced by David Joel Stephens

Originally released in 1973, "Neither One of Us" was to be the last hit for the "Empress of Soul" on the Soul label, a subsidiary of Motown Records. It would also become the track for which Ms. Knight earned her first Grammy! You would be correct if you were thinking that I had already released a version of this song in 2019. I didn't feel however, that the sound I heard in my head became the final product to the listeners ear. This version, on the other hand, hits it right on the mark! Listen to both versions and you'll understand why I felt it wasn't quite "there" yet. It should also be noted that, this brand new 2022 version contains all of the original studio tracks, with exception of the harp and acoustic upright piano. I kept the E-Piano, and arranged an all new piano track for this update with my favorite of them all, the YAMAHA CFX GRAND. Oh how sweet the sound! Also, I should add that only the original lead vocal tracks were used in this new production, even though you will find that there might be a few "Sleight Of Production" tricks I utilized in the studio to really put some PUNCH in the vocal arrangement. Seasoned veterans of this song will know right away where they are. This was TRULY a labor of love for me, as it is indeed one of my favorite songs of all time (A well deserved nod to Jim Weatherly, who composed this amazing melody and lyric) and stands the test of time to show that when a song is GOOD, it holds its own, and can shine even 50 years after it's initial release! I truly hope you enjoy this new version as much as I did in the studio updating this classic that remains a GIANT among the greatest songs of all time!
