Spain's dual citizenship laws are somewhat complex. Generally, individuals who acquire Spanish citizenship must renounce their previous nationality. However, there are several exceptions: Citizens of certain countries: Individuals from Latin American countries, Andorra, the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal, and France can obtain dual citizenship after a minimum of two years of residency in Spain. Sephardic Jews: Descendants of Sephardic Jews who were expelled from Spain in the 15th century can apply for dual citizenship without a residency requirement. Marriage: A foreign spouse of a Spanish citizen can acquire Spanish citizenship after one year of marriage.
