Driving Arizona Route 66 Solo: Donkeys, Cacti & Extreme Mojave Desert Heat [4K]

August 23, 2026 Driving the scenic Oatman Highway on Route 66 just outside of Oatman. I met a group of donkeys (wild burros) trying to stop my car like trolls on a bridge for (food)! Driving the Mojave Desert solo in the extreme August heat past teddy-bear cacti was awesome - as soon as the air conditioner finally kicked on lol. The teddy bear cactus is known to throw spikes or needles if you get to close. I didn't get too close. The scientific name for the teddy bear cactus is Teddy Bear Cholla (scientifically Cylindropuntia bigelovii).
