To Initiate the kickflip you want to push directly down on the tail with your back foot using mainly you ankle and foot. Once you pop the skateboard slide your front foot up like an ollie, but as the foot and ankle is sliding up the skateboard you want to get ready to flick out when you feel the pressure of the nose of the skateboard. And basically you want to flick that ankle and foot in a kicking outward motion to make the board flip under your feet. As the board spins around you want to keep your feet above the board and catch the board with your back foot as you bring your front foot onto the board at the same time. Land on bolts and lean forward and bend your knees to absorb the landing of the kickflip. Softrucks are Rubber skateboarding practice trucks that are meant to do flip tricks on carpet or other flat surfaces. Softrucks don’t have wheels they are just solid rubber. I practiced how to kickflip for years and years on Softrucks and they really helped me develop my flick for the kickflip. They are also a lot more sturdy than normal skateboard trucks and wheels. Obviously because they are meant for stationary skateboarding tricks. I explain in this video how it’s important to keep your shoulders strait with the skateboard so you keep the kickflip strait under your feet while it is flipping. Also, pushing down and back with your popping foot (back Foot) makes the board not flip straight and this could be a problem with your kickflips not flipping properly under your feet. Once you get your Ollies down and you start working on your kickflips, you understand the dedication skateboarders have to put in to their craft. It is important to not get frustrated and keep making minor adjustments to your flipping foot to get that skateboard to do the right kickflip motion. Don’t give up and you will be rewarded with landing your first kickflip. And there is no better feeling then landing your first kickflip and then mastering the trick.
