(5 Nov 1971) STORY NORTHERN IRELAND: SECURITY ROUNDUP In Northern Ireland the controversial policy of internment, introduced in Autumn 1971 has led to an increased death-rate of troops and other security forces at the hands of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and other extremists. Several people released from the internment camps have alleged that they either suffered or saw torture. We speak with two released detainees and take a look at the difficult life of the British Army in Ulster, as well as recruits at the training centre of the Royal Ulster Constabulary - the now disarmed police force which will bear an increasingly heavy responsibility for the maintenance of law and order in the province. Also included is a group who hope to mobilise moderate opinion, and members of the Alliance Party - a new, non-sectarian group who are aiming to make some important gains at the next elections.
