On a special evening at Cinetol, Amsterdam, Afrogrooves combined with percussion groups Bombito (Amsterdam) and La Maquina (The Hague) for fully improvised, danceable live music. Led by a conductor utilizing the dynamic sign language Rhythm and Percussion with Signs —developed by Santiago Vázquez in Argentina, who on this special occasion was present himself— the musicians create grooves, breaks, and surprises on the spot, without a setlist and without limitations. While this system is often used for percussion, Afrogrooves applies it to a full afrobeat band, resulting in rich, layered sounds and unexpected twists.
