Painted Thrift: A WWII Story of Necessity - #grungytagchallenge2026

July’s “Paint” prompt for the Grungy Tag Challenge hosted by Lori ‪@pilesofparagraphs‬ took me back to the ingenuity of the 1940s. ◼️This was an era where necessity turned humble, floral-print cotton feed sacks into everything from Sunday dresses to children’s aprons. It is a beautiful look at "making do" with what was available. ◼️ To capture that resourceful spirit, I played around with a bit of Gelli plate printing using the baby powder technique to get some patriotic wartime grunge. I thoroughly enjoyed putting this one together!
