Travelling on crutches means planning for things most people never think about, starting with the rubber tips at the bottom of the crutch. In this video, I replace my worn-out crutch tips before flying to Melbourne, explain why they're an ongoing cost for crutch users, and share what it was like growing up when options for buying them were very limited. Then we head to the airport, and I share my honest views on travelling with a mobility aid. I review plane boarding and travel accessibility in general, and then we test the SkyBus from Melbourne Airport to the CBD. My verdict: it's convenient, cost-effective and straightforward, but accessibility can be a challenge. After that, I take you on a tour and review of our hotel, the Mövenpick. It's accessible-friendly, with a spacious room and a ramp that connects the public spaces to its restaurants and cafes. In the next few days, we'll be visiting and reviewing trending Melbourne spots and cafes. Are they worth the hype? More importantly, are they accessible-friendly? ⏱ CHAPTERS 00:00 Replacing my worn-out crutch tips 01:05 Airport check-in and the accessible cafe ramp 02:20 Boarding and flying with crutches 05:15 Landing in Melbourne and buying SkyBus tickets 6:00 SkyBus ride to the CBD 11:20 Mövenpick Hotel tour and review 17:35 Hotel verdict and what's coming next 👉 If you travel with a mobility aid, tell me in the comments what you'd like me to check in the next few days. 👍 Like and subscribe to The Steady Path for more accessible travel reviews. #CrutchTravel #AccessibleTravel #Melbourne
