It was released in 1972 on the band’s self-titled debut album and became their biggest hit. Produced by legendary songwriting and production duo Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, the song features Rafferty on lead vocals with harmony vocals by Egan. Lyrically, the track is a tongue-in-cheek satire of the music industry, inspired by Rafferty’s experiences at industry cocktail parties. The “clowns” and “jokers” referenced in the lyrics were meant to represent record executives and hangers-on. Musically and stylistically, the song is famously performed as a parody of Bob Dylan, particularly in its vocal delivery and phrasing. This led many listeners over the years to mistakenly attribute the song to Dylan himself. “Stuck in the Middle with You” became an international hit, reaching No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart, No. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and No. 2 in Canada. It sold over one million copies and was ranked No. 30 on Billboard’s year-end chart for 1973. The band performed the song on BBC’s Top of the Pops in May 1973, cementing its place as a classic of early 1970s folk rock. ——————————————————————————————————————————— 🎶 Lyrics Full lyrics are available in the pinned comment below 👇 ——————————————————————————————————————————— 💬 Join the Conversation Would you play this one at a jam, a gig, or just for fun at home? ——————————————————————————————————————————— 🔥 Hashtags #StealersWheel #StuckInTheMiddleWithYou #planetguitar #guitarplayalong #chordchart #guitarchords #guitartabs #guitarlesson #guitartutorial #acousticguitar #playalongguitar #learnguitar #onscreenchords #guitarwithlyrics #beginnerguitar #nocapo #folkrockguitar #70srock #guitarpractice #guitarvideo
