An ordinary day, a small outing, and cats. This video has all three. I'm Meimama — a Japanese woman in my 40s, starting over after a divorce. I live in a small apartment with my daughter and two rescue cats, Mei and Rai. Most of this video is just my normal day. Breakfast for the cats, last night's dishes still in the sink, and the vacuum I run every single day. I've been a little tired lately. I recently started working online, and I'm still catching up — I had to look up how to make a line break in a spreadsheet, and Google Meet was a first for me. Halfway through, I go out a little. It's midsummer here, and I had three days off (some companies in Japan get nine in a row). I walked up to a shrine with beautiful torii gates, stood by the water for a while, and stopped at a café inside an old farmhouse — the kind of house my generation only knows from folk tales. Then a whole day at home: editing this video, paperwork I'd been putting off, and deciding what to do about my car insurance. Dinner was made from whatever was already here — inari sushi, tamagoyaki, and rice balls. Watermelon for dessert. That counts as a vegetable, right? ☕ A question for you: does the sound of running water feel calming in your country too? I'd really like to know. 🐈 Mei — tabby, big-sister energy. She'll let you pet her only when she feels like it. 🐈‍⬛ Rai — black cat, calm, and he loves being petted. When I brought them home, I promised I would make them happy. It turned out to be the other way around. Thank you for watching all the way to the end. New video every Saturday. 🇯🇵 0:00 Morning routine in a small Japanese apartment 0:40 Breakfast for Mei and Rai 🐈 2:04 Dishes, fur, and the daily vacuum 2:51 Learning to work online at 40 3:27 A healing break with Rai 3:56 Mei runs hot and cold 5:09 A shrine with torii gates ⛩️ 6:40 An old farmhouse café 7:44 Home all day — under cat supervision 8:56 Playtime, then dinner 9:35 The promise I made them 10:54 One drink, and a quiet evening 12:55 Rai is in the way (again) 13:41 Bedtime 14:34 BONUS — Rai is too black to photograph 🐈‍⬛ ☕ If you'd like, you can support us with a coffee: buymeacoffee.com/meimama
