Butchart Garden is one of the best Gardens in the World. It is considered as the National Treasure of Canada. It was created by Jennie Butchart - a horticulturist. She was married to Pim Butchart - a cement manufacturer. When his limestone quarry was exhausted, Jennie had a bold idea. She wanted to convert the industrial scar into a beautiful garden. She brought top soil, designed the landscaping, created pathways and planted thousands of plants with colourful flowers. That’s how the sunken garden was born. Later she added the Japanese Garden, the Italian Garden and the Rose Garden. The Garden occupies an area of 22 hectares and attracts one million visitors every year.
