A long walk through Antalya, from the modern shopping streets to the parts of the city tourists rarely reach. We start at MarkAntalya and follow the pedestrian street down to Kaleiçi and the viewpoint over the harbour, then turn off into the street of antique and second-hand bookshops — almost all shut on a Sunday. Past the tourist bazaar behind the old town, along the nostalgic tram line, under old houses and magnolia trees, into Demirciler Çarşısı, the blacksmiths' bazaar: copper pots, knives, tinsmiths and antique dealers. Then past the stalls where local women sell what they make themselves, and out to Doğu Garajı — where a shopping centre was going up until the ground gave up 866 ancient graves. Demirciler Çarşısı is around 80 years old and still worked by blacksmiths, stove makers and tinsmiths.
