Watar Hassas (The Sensitive Chord) is an online platform showcasing independent Arab artists through a series of interviews that reflects their views on how the latest changes in the region influence their daily lives and most importantly the impact it has on their Art. Our belief in Watar Hassas is that we are all to be acknowledged as humans having a shared cultural memory/identity and traditions and morals before we are recognized for our music or art form. And despite our apparent differences we are bound to each other by geographical boundaries and a common language which can be at times our mother tongue and at times our music and artistic expressions. However, we are no longer alone or isolated by personal choice, device or coercive powers since the world wide web virtual space became a reality that brought upon us a change that was never dreamt of just years ago. We now have the tools to share, debate and express our views regardless of how radical or conforming they are. This newfound power enabled us to cross borders that were impenetrable and explore possibilities in a space that is hospitable to all regardless of color, nationality, religion or political orientations. Watar Hassas is an open non-formal platform that allows Arab artist to express their stories, opinions and thoughts about the state of things each in their respective country in relation to the socio-political turmoil the Arab World is experiencing currently. Hence the name: Watar Hassas (Sensitive Chord). About Hazem Shaheen: Those are sincere transparent moments of an artist who grew up to be entangled between 2 generations and kept on dreaming of a different world. Hazem Shaheen is a composer, singer, founder and leader of Eskenderella band. he joined the house of Arabic Oud in Cairo under the supervision of Iraqi Oud Player Nassir Chamma and he graduated with honor distinction in 2002. he took part in many international oud festivals among which the Oud International Competition in Beirut in 2000 and the Oud International Forum in Oman last year. He is the founder, the leader, composer and distributor of most of the songs of Eskenderella band. حازم شاهين... ملحن و عازف عود من مصر و مؤسس و قائد فرقة اسكندريلا انضم إلى بيت العود العربي بالقاهرة تحت قيادة عازف العود العراقي نصير شمة ليتخرج منه أيضاً بتقدير امتياز مع مرتبة الشرف عام 2002. شارك في عدة مهرجانات دولية للعود من أهمها مسابقة العود الدولية ببيروت عام 2000، وملتقى العود الدولي بسلطنة عمان في العام الماضي. وهو مؤسس وقائد فرقة"اسكندريلا " وملحن وموزع معظم أغنيات الفرقة.
