In August 1942, captured Doolittle Raider Chase Nielsen stood before Japanese officers in Shanghai. An officer read a document. The interpreter translated names and ranks—but not the proceedings. Nielsen was never told he was on trial. From the April 18 Doolittle Raid aboard USS Hornet to captivity in occupied China, this World War II documentary follows the navigator of the B-25 Green Hornet through a story of concealed charges, disputed confessions, and survival. Years later, Nielsen returned to Shanghai. Inside another courtroom, the words would finally be translated. What had happened in that first room—and what could he now put on the record?
